Extracting your own water, with the help of Wyatts, is a lot easier than you might think. Our hydrogeological team will look at the geology of your property and identify any areas that could yield any water sustainably.

We will also look at any sources of potential contamination, groundwater flow direction, investigate the flooding history in your area and check on your water quality.

Once we have this information we are then able to go ahead to design and construct the borehole that will produce your private water supply.

Private property owners may draw up to 20 cubic metres of water per day, without the need for an abstraction licence. A family of four uses approximately 1 cubic metre of water per day for the entire household’s needs, so it is usually a business, such as a farm that requires a licence for extracting water for private water supply.

Wyatts supports its clients from start to finish of the abstraction licence application process. Once the application has been submitted, the decision process usually takes 3-4 weeks.
